Tarot Card Magic With the Tarot Chariot Card

Tarot Chariot Card Meanings

The Chariot card is like having your personal Google Maps guidance system charting the best route to whatever it is that you want to achieve.

If you connect with this energy in the right way, you won’t feel that you’re pulled in multiple directions or that you have to keep asking for advice and help. You won’t be doubting your own ideas or desires. You’ll know how to chart a path around obstacles rather than try to run them over.

Just as the person depicted on The Chariot card, you’re seated high above the fray, with an excellent view of everything, the latest in protective armor, and you’re strong, healthy and secure.

The number seven indicates that either you have the knowledge you need to get where you want to be, or that you’ll be gathering that knowledge in the first months of this year. You’ll no longer feel confused about which path to take, or how to proceed.

You’ll be thinking with crystal clarity, and those patterns of indecision and fear of failure will be nowhere in sight.

The Tarot Chariot Card Meaning

To me, The Chariot has always been a very lucky card. Even if there’s a lot of distance involved in reaching your goal, that trip can be pleasant and light when you know the path and can see exactly how one step will lead to the next.

The Chariot often comes up when you’re in the midst of a serious struggle with work, family, or health. It means that a situation that has been chaos and full of fear before — what has felt like you’re going through a war — now opens up to a clear path ahead.

There may still be battles to fight, but you’re no longer in the dark. You’re fully armed with all of the knowledge and skills you need to make it through and to be the victor.

As you look at the figure of the chariot driver, they hold the wand of the Magician, their uniform is covered with auspicious alchemical symbols, and they are crowned by an 8-pointed star with two crescent moons on their shoulders. This is a person of power who has learned everything they need to know in order to prevail.

All you need to do is have a strong heart, believing that all good things are likely to happen this year, and prepare to finally live your dreams.

Chariot Tarot Card Magic

You will need:

  • A photocopy of the Chariot card with the back of the card blank. (Print out the image here or photocopy a Chariot card image from your own tarot deck). If you want to purchase a deck, you'll find my favorites here.

  • A sheet of paper and something to write with.

  • Do this spell on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday when the hour hand of the clock is rising (between 6 and 11, am or pm, but am is best).

  • Optional: A full tarot deck, if you happen to have one.

Here’s the step-by-step:

1. Take your sheet of paper and do a stream-of-consciousness dive, writing down everything single thing you'd love to have happen or to bring into being this year.

2. Set your list aside, hold your Chariot card in your two hands, and gaze into it deeply. Ask for the Chariot's help in deciding which of your desires/goals to focus on right now.

3. Go back to your list and cross out everything that isn't absolutely essential to your happiness this year. Keep paring down your list until you are down to one item.

4. Again, set aside your list and hold your Chariot card again. Gaze into the eyes of the chariot driver, and ask: "What is the most direct path to my goal right now?"

5. Write down what you hear inside your mind. Don't stop too soon. Spend at least 15 minutes and keep waiting to hear if there's more guidance.

6. Step 5 gives you your plan. Now, on the back of your photocopied image of the Chariot, write the guidance you received. Keep this where you can see it every day and reread it several times a day -- and of course, put it into action.

7. Optional, super-powerful step, if you own a tarot deck. Once a day or once a week, shuffle your deck 7 times. Then turn your deck picture-side up, and find the Chariot card. The card in front of the Chariot is your current obstacle to your goal. The card behind the Chariot is a force that's helping to propel you forward.
